Rugs HQ is proud to present one of our new rug manufacture companies called Safavieh. Safavieh has been based in the United States since 1978 and is headquartered in Port Washington, New York. This furnishing company has been in business for over 30 years and has transformed from an artisan family business to a high tech corporation. Over the years Safavieh has grown from one showroom to a huge international company with manufacturing facilities on three different continents. Safavieh is known for their fine quality, craftsmanship and style. Safavieh is one the oldest rug companies in continuous operation and is one of the most known brands in the furniture world.

Safavieh Rugs

Safavieh first started as a supplier of antique Oriental rugs to important interior designers. Safavieh’s commitment to quality has helped their company become the world’s finest weaver of luxury rugs. That commitment has been rewarded with many different industry awards by America’s top designers and architects. Safavieh has been acknowledged in a survey by House & Garden as the Designers’ Best 2007 for antique and reproduction rugs.

Safavieh rugs are produced in many major rug weaving countries around the world: Persia, India, Tibet, Nepal, China and Pakistan. They create each rug in the region best-suited to each particular design. Most Safavieh collections are hand-knotted and hand-tufted using ancient techniques the weavers’ ancestors have used for thousands of years.

Rug Buying:

Safavieh started their licensing program in 2006 with one of their long time customers, Thomas O’Brien. Their Martha Stewart Rugs collection was introduced in 2007. Safavieh Couture launched a licensing program with renowned designers in 2009 including Jamie Drake, David Easton, Suzanne Kasler and Thom Filicia. The originality and loveliness of Safavieh’s own collections were recognized with the America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards. Their company has also been awarded with the 2005 Home Decorators Collection Vendor of the Year.

The family behind the Safavieh brand has devoted its talents and resources to offering the highest quality in area rugs for about four generations. The durability, beauty and artistry of handmade rugs and well-crafted furniture are unbeatable. Their main mission is to achieve modernism while maintaining centuries-old traditions in antique reproductions, transitional area and accent rugs, to the most fashion-forward and contemporary designs.

This first quarter of 2011 was a buzz for Safavieh with the launch of their first pillow collection during the International Furniture Market.
