Country Living is an American lifestyle and decorating magazine which was first published in 1978. This magazine is published by the Hearst Corporation and focuses on cooking, decorating, gardening, and collecting antiques.
The Hearst Corporation was first started by a young man named William Randolph Hearst in 1887. Hearst was interested in newspapering and magazine publishing, and by the 1930’s he was the owner of the largest newspaper chain in the nation. Hearst was a hard working business man and was always looking for more and more things to get involved in. In the 1920s he became the owner of one of the first commercial television stations in the nation. He also played his role in the politics. He was elected two times as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives, but unfortunately he was unsuccessful when he ran for Mayor of New York City, Governor of New York, and for Lieutenant Governor of New York.
His life story was such a huge inspiration to so many people that it was actually used for the development of the lead character in the film Citizen Kane. Hearst died in 1951, but Hearst Corporation has continued to cultivate and flourish. Today, it is one of the nation’s leading media companies.
The Country Living Magazine has created their own collection of Rugs. This collection features a variety of traditional and modern designs. It was inspired by the comfortable and attractive style found in the pages of the magazine. The two collections that we carry are called Farmhouse and Inspired Classics. The Farmhouse collection consists of flat weave striped rugs while the Inspired Classics have lively loop hooked florals. Each rug was designed to add warmth, comfort and style to any home and compliment any type of décor.
